Our Board of Trustees

Our Board of Trustees is a governing board comprised of five members who are responsible for ensuring Unbroken Dreams pursues its mission, stays financially sound, and meets all its legal obligations.  The board manages staff volunteers that handle day-to-day operations.  The chairman of the board calls and runs board meetings and makes appointments based on the organization’s bylaws.  The treasurer oversees the financial responsibilities of the organization, and the secretary keeps the organization’s historical records and takes minutes of its official meetings.  Other board members participate in board meetings, vote on official matters, and serve on committees.

Daphne fills the Executive Director role and serves as the Chairman on the Board of Trustees. She earned a B.A. degree in psychology from The Pennsylvania State University and an M.B.A. from California State University. Additionally, she has several years of call center experience assisting the suicidal and / or the homeless populations, and she worked as a medical assistant in a psychiatric hospital in the children and adolescent wards. Daphne serves as the County Coordinator for Hillsborough County for the Florida Action Committee. She also hosts the Florida Fearless Group, which is a peer led group for persons required to register and their families. Daphne has spent the last few years as a real estate agent helping families find homes in the Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas Counties of Florida. Through these positions, she has developed a comprehensive network of personal and professional contacts with key community leaders.

Mindy is a licensed CPA, Founder, and CEO of an accounting firm. She has worked in multi-sized accounting firms and served as a Controller in private industries in her 25-year career. Mindy has a large heart for non-profit organizations. She has volunteered for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, Friends of Child Advocates, Salvation Army, United Way, Jeff Davis High School mentoring program, and Food for Seniors program at Independent Heights. She is passionate about helping others, especially those who do not have their basic human needs met.

Mindy Houts
Treasurer

Debbie's career has included human resources, hospitality, financial and mortgage consulting, tax preparation, real estate investments, client relations, and non-profit leadership. She's served countless hours in the community of all demographics and maintains a strong relationship with dozens of organizations. Serving and giving back is an important part of Debbie's life as she has volunteered for a number of local and regional organizations like Equal Justice Initiative, Hands On Atlanta, Atlanta Community Food Bank, HOPE Atlanta, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Atlanta Mission, Salvation Army's Angel Tree, and 7Bridges. Debbie has a strong passion for people and spends a lot of time supporting disadvantaged families.

Secretary

Bobby is the Practice Administrator for BayCare Medical Group, where he oversees four service lines. He spent 23 years in the U.S. Navy as an independent duty corpsman. Bobby has traveled the world extensively and his experience led to cultural diversity. For the past three years, he served as President of the West Lake Reserve Homeowner’s Association.

Branden has a huge heart for people. He spent several years volunteering for the YMCA. He also spent three years in the YMCA’s Teen Leaders Program, which gives young people opportunities for leadership training, personal growth, service to others, and social development. He participated in service-learning projects, volunteer and fundraising events, academic support, field trips, and weekend regional rallies throughout the year. Branden aspires to continue college and have a future in the computer field.
